Hi, I'm Amanda, a writer, poet and songwriter. I grew up wild on Yuggera Turrbal country (Brisbane) but spent most of my adult life in cities far from home. After 25 years away, including six in the middle of nowhere, I found myself back near where I started.
I've realized that living wildly isn't about escaping; it's about remembering and reclaiming the life I long for without necessarily travelling anywhere.
In amongst the migrations and multitudes, writing has been my anchor, reminding me of my place in the world and of the greater web of life that I am always connected to.
I write poetry and personal essays about everyday freedom, sacredness, mysticism, and practical animism. My newsletter, Appetite for Living, features original poems and reflections on remembering, reunion, and radical hope—delivered every second Sunday via Substack.
When I'm not writing, you'll find me close to home with my family, immersed in books, thought, art, music, nature, poetry, or dancing—anything that reunites my inner and outer wildness.
